Equations for the Number of Matches Required for Stable Performance Profiles

چکیده
Performance indicators in sport are ofte n specific to individual perform ances rather than being typical for perform ers. Therefore, H ughes et al. (2004b) developed the concept of nor mative profiles of sports perform ance and a m eans of determining the number of m atches required for perform ance indicators to stabilise within a tolerable percentage error of the typical mean for the performer. This technique does not address the possi bility of sa mpling error and involves more calculation than is often necessary to determine the number of matches that are required to produce a stable perform ance profile. This paper develops an equation that can determ ine the number of m atches required for the m ean of a performance indicator to stabilise. Wh ere the performance indicator is normally distributed and the coefficient of variation is 5% or less, the equation determ ines a number of matches required for stability with 95% confidence. The equation was tested and validated during a computerised simulation exercise that generated multiple samples of synthetic data.

Nelder-Mead algorithm optimization and Galerkin’s method thermal performance analysis of circular porous fins with various profiles in fully wet conditions
The main objective of this research is to analyze optimization and the thermal performance of circular porous fins with four different profiles, rectangular, convex, triangular and concave under fully wet conditions. In this research, a linear model was used for the relationship between humidity and temperature. Also, modeling is assumed one-dimensional and the temperature changes only in the d...
متن کاملStability analysis of stratified two-phase liquid-gas flow in a horizontal pipe
This study aimed at linear stability analysis of the stratified two-phase liquid-gas flow in a horizontal pipe. First, equations governing the linear stability of flow in each phase and boundary conditions were obtained. The governing equations were eigenvalue Orr Sommerfeld equations which are difficult and stiff problems to solve. After obtaining the velocity profiles of the gas and liquid ph...
متن کاملDensity and Polarization Profiles of Dipolar Hard Ellipsoids Confined between Hard Walls: A Density Functional Theory Approach
The density and polarization profiles of the dipolar hard ellipsoids confined between hard walls are studied using the density functional theory (DFT). The Hyper-Netted Chain (HNC) approximation is used to write excess grand potential of the system with respect to the bulk value. The number density is expanded up to zero and first order in polarization to find the results. For the zero order in...

In this paper, a forced circulation solar water heater system is simulated for different hot water consumption profiles using flat plate collectors as well as evacuated tube collectors. The profiles studied are the actual samples of hot water consumption profiles for different commercial centers and institutions. Dynamic simulation outputs of system thermal performance are used as economic anal...
متن کاملPhase II monitoring of multivariate simple linear profiles with estimated parameters
In some applications of statistical process monitoring, a quality characteristic can be characterized by linear regression relationships between several response variables and one explanatory variable, which is referred to as a “multivariate simple linear profile.” It is usually assumed that the process parameters are known in Phase II. However, in most applications, this assumption is viola...
